Individual Nutrition Counseling for Adolescents and Adults

During our time together, we’re going to deconstruct your beliefs about food and your body and explore the ways they’re working against you, while gently replacing them with the knowledge, behaviors, and skills that will help create realistic, sustainable, healthy changes.

I’m going to provide you with strategies and a plan to teach you how to nourish your body, while we slowly work through the areas you’re feeling stuck. As you cultivate your ability to trust and honor your individual needs, you can begin your recovery from disordered eating.

Steps to Getting Started

Step 1: We start with a 20 minute complimentary consult over the phone where I learn about you/your adolescent. I’ll explain what working together looks like based on your situation, and answer any questions you have. There’s nothing to prepare and I invite you to share whatever feels comfortable.

Step 2: We schedule our initial hour together. It’s normal to feel nervous before and during our first appointment. You may be wondering, what will be taken away from you or what you’ll be asked to do, but please know that during this time, you won’t be expected to make any changes. It’s a time for us to get to know one another and talk through where you are in your recovery journey, where you want to be, and how I support you in getting there.

Step 3: Fill out a quick HIPPA/Privacy Policy Form that I will email you after you get scheduled for your first hour.

Step 4: We meet! I have an office in Clintonville and offer Telehealth, so even if you’re not in Columbus or Ohio, or just prefer virtual, we can still work together. This is a time when we talk about some of the changes that come along with recovery, and the skills, tools, resources, and education we’ll use to get you there.

Step 5: From there, we decide on a frequency of meeting that provides you the support you need, which is typically once/week or once/every other week. Initial sessions are 60-90 minutes and follow-up sessions are 30-60 minutes. During our follow up appointments, we’ll create a plan together, building upon it each session.

Each recovery process will be customized to the individual and challenges that are currently being faced.
